Colibri is a world-class fabric and garment dyeing and repair facility that has operated since 1939. Colibri was founded in the city of Athens, Greece. Our clients in Greece range from Maria Callas to Sophia Loren. Colibri moved to New York City in 1989. Through its 22-year tenure in New York’s garment district, we have become the go to fabric dyer for the American fashion industry.

Clients like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Zac Posen, Vera Wang, Proenza Schouler, Jill Stuart, Theory, and Victoria's Secret have entrusted us with their products. We have custom dyed gowns from most major fashion houses for the Oscars, for the First Lady, the Golden Globes, and the Met Gala. We have collaborated with Peter Marino on the textiles for interior design, and we dye costumes for the Metropolitan Opera. Our work has been photographed in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and other premier fashion magazines. These are just some of the highlights of our extensive practice.

Colibri is run by Costas Tzanedakis, who comes from the third generation of dyers, and who began his career in theater costume design. In order to expand its services and to provide work of unparalleled quality, Colibri has recently moved to the newly expanded atelier in New Jersey. This has allowed Colibri to install the latest state of the art machinery, available exclusively in the United States, and to add comprehensive leather dyeing, treatment, and repair services. As we continue to be the go-to dyer for the New York’s fashion industry we are now also able to service the rest of America through our mail service.

We are the first company in the US to introduce a robotic dye dispenser and a photo spectrometer, which automatically dispenses the dye formula for exact color. We use only environmentally-friendly dyes.
